About Us
How we came about:
Serendipity is how we came to be. After years in advertising, I was committed to getting out. I had trained as a life coach, dabbled in consulting on conscious business, been ordained as an Interfaith minister, started to develop my creativity, and needed a way to pull it all together. Since I always enjoyed my jobs in retail, I decided to open a book and gift store oriented towards personal and spiritual growth.
The next question was where. Since I had a house in the Hudson Valley area, I decided to look at communities within an hour of the house. The name “Kingston” kept sticking in my head…and sticking in my head…and sticking in my head. I decided to drive up on a Sunday to check it out; specifically the Uptown area. I found an absolutely adorable community- with no one on the street. Just as the words “I guess I can strike Kingston off the list”, 1 person appeared. Miraculously it was someone I knew from Brooklyn that, unbeknownst to me, had moved to Kingston four years earlier. Carole started introducing me around and showing me the things that were happening in town. Plus I found the building that was exactly what I had envisioned…about 1000 square feet with exposed brick with 1 or 2 apartments upstairs. It all unfolded from there.
I have often said that I was guided to Kingston, and I believe I was. It is exactly the kind of situation I adore…a little grit, a lot of heart, and a very welcoming community.
We are home.

There are a couple ways to enjoy the Inspired! community. Our favorite is for you to stop by our store, located in the Uptown area of Kingston, NY. If you can’t do that, join us on this site. If you want to become an even more central part of Inspired!, join the Inspired! club. Members get frequent-buyer discounts, the inside scoop, and even an occasional party!

How could we have a place named Inspired! without attention to the arts? Without inspiration there would be no art. Nor would it be easy to find inspiration without art.
We connect with the arts in many ways. To support the visual arts, we feature a different artist every other month. (Go back to our home page for information on our current artist.) We also hold a Poetry Open Mic the first Friday of every month. This event is hosted by Jerrice Baptiste, Authentic Poetry coach and host of WKZE’s Women of Note. You’ll also find Live Music in our store whenever our favorite musicians are inspired to schedule an event here.
Who We Are
AnnE O’Neil is the owner and founder of Inspired! She opened the store for many reasons: to support people in their growth and healing, to practice conscious business, and to spend her days around people who care about each other, the world, and themselves.
Sallie Bollin is our part-time salesperson and merchandizer extraordinaire. Even more importantly, with her beautiful loving energy Sallie also keeps the space at Insipred! welcoming and nourishing. When Sallie is not at Inspired!, she shares her talents as energy worker/spiritual healer adn reader.
